The Nile Experience in Jinja, Uganda | Book online

            The Nile Experience

Duration: 10 day(s) - Location: Bujagali Falls, Jinja
This package will allow you to maximise your time and make the most of your trip. You will be fully ‘guided' for the duration, which means you will get top quality coaching as well as being able to enjoy the impressive Nile water in a safe and organised environment. Please see the itinerary for further details.

            Itinerary
Day 1: You will be met by a Kayak the Nile representative at Entebbe International Airport and transferred to Bujagali Falls in Jinja (approx 3 hours). After checking into your dormitory accommodation (upgrades available), you will visit some of the local villages, passing by some of the Nile's spectacular rapids.

              Day 2:
After breakfast we head down to ‘Kalagala Falls' where we start the second-day stretch of the Nile. Our guide will ‘introduce' you to this section, which has world-class play waves - a taster for you to check-out the best, and then to give you plenty of time to play.

              Day 3:
Today, we head down to the ‘Kayak Session" ramp and launch ourselves onto the Nile for the full One-Day section. Our guide will lead you down different lines to suit your ability, giving detailed descriptions of the rapids and scouting where necessary.

              Day 4:
After a morning of relaxation we head to the water again to run the first 10km of the river. You will have covered this on Day 1, so it will give you a chance to become more familiar with the river and check out some of the many different lines.

              Day 5:
Here, an early morning zip wire from high up over the river is an optional extra. Then we return to run the full One- Day stretch, which finishes at ‘Itanda Falls'. This huge spectacular rapid is an exhilarating ride for the very skilled and the very brave! Our guide will be at hand to advise on all the different lines during the day.

              Day 6:
A lighter day, with opportunities to explore the many channels the Bujagali area has to offer.

              Day 7:
We have a more leisurely start the next day and ‘session' all the waves, all the way down the river. Our top class guides will be on hand, as well as members of the Ugandan Kayaking Team to offer coaching on ‘big air' tricks. In the evening we reach the ‘Hairy Lemon' Island - our very beautiful mid-river campsite. It has an added attraction: it is five minutes paddle from the ‘Nile Special' - probably the worlds sweetest surf wave!!

              Day 8:
After a leisurely morning we paddle downstream to ‘Malalu', the perfect wave to practice those big air tricks. It has good eddy access and a flat pool behind it. This is a coaching paradise. In the evening we head back to the ‘Hairy Lemon' for a relaxed evening by the fire.

              Day 9:
Today we head back up to ‘Kalagala Falls', where we run this impressive section once again. After playing all the way down to ‘Malalu' we take the scenic drive back up to Bujagali Falls to party away our last night in Uganda.

              Day 10:
Waking super early, we drive down to Lake Victoria where we head out to catch the sunrise. Although it seems quite a mission, it is certainly worth it. This is one of the most spectacular sights you will see. After some local style breakfast by the lake we take the drive back to Entebbe to fly home. Alternatively you can stay on!! We are more than happy to organise an extension.

Local dishes are prepared in a traditional kitchen and much of the produce is grown in the surrounding villages. The restaurant is set in beautiful gardens - a great place for children to play. The dining area also functions as a flexible space for workshops, conferences, and gatherings.

The retreat centre is set in a bird sanctuary, and also attracts the local monkeys. Horse-riding trips are also available. Plans are currently afoot to construct a swimming pool and health spa.
